Welcome to Blue Whale Class, which is made up of 30 Year 4 children. Our class teacher is Miss Barrett and our teaching assistants are Mrs Henson, Mrs Ashton and Miss Woods.

During the year I will post updates most weeks to keep you informed with what we have been up to in the classroom as well as share REACH certificate winners and homework updates.
Summer 2 dates for your diary:
- Monday 3rd June - Start of Summer 2
- Tuesday 4th June - The Book Bus in school
- Wednesday 19th June - Expert group afternoon
- w/c 24th June - Celebration Week
- Friday 5th July - Sports Day and Summer Fair
- Tuesday 9th July - Transition Day
- Wednesday 10th July - Meet the teacher after school drop in
- Tuesday 23rd July - End of the year, last day in Year 4
PE days:
- Our PE days are Wednesday (Forest School) and Friday (Swimming)
- Swimming dates for Year 4's are as follows: 1st March, 8th March, 15th March, 22nd March, 26th April, 3rd May, 10th May, 7th June, 14th June, 21st June, 28th June and 5th July.
On PE days, children are asked to wear their school PE kit which includes a plain red t-shirt with our without the school logo, a plain black sports jacket/zip-up jacket and plain black or navy joggers/shorts.

This half-term we will be covering:
- Geography: Fieldwork
- Science: Electricity
- DT: Stop motion animation and light boxes
- RE: Why do some people think that life is a journey and what significant experience mark this?
- PSCHE: Being safe
- Spanish: Consolidation of learning
- Computing: Programming
- Music: How does music connect us with the environment?
- PE: Swimming and Forest School
Easter Holiday Homework set on 28/03/24
Each Friday one of the following activities will be set online:
- My Maths
- Spag.com
- TT Rockstars
Alongside the online activity will be the following:
- Reading (school diary signed 3 times for a merit)
- Spelling (see below)
- Learning times tables
Spelling lists of 10 spellings, following a set rule, will be given out each week. Each list will be given out and placed in reading diaries to learn by the following week. One way of learning the spellings can be by using their Spelling Shed account.
Most of the lists, aside from when we cover the Year 3 and 4 statutory words lists, have an extra 'super speller' challenge to think of three extra words that follow the same given rule to learn. If the children can spell the extra words correctly in their spelling test they can gain a merit!
