School uniform

We pride ourselves on the high standard of dress at Dovedale. Our recommended form of clothing includes a red school Sweatshirt teamed with grey or black skirt, trousers or shorts. The skirts should be appropriate length ( knee) and shorts should be uniform style not 'cycling' or PE type shorts. In order to maintain our high standard we consider Bermuda shorts, jeans, denim jackets, highly coloured track, jogging or shell suits unsuitable for school. We believe that high standards of dress make a positive contribution to overall discipline in the school.

Although we do not require school logos on our uniform, logo sweatshirts and polo shirts can be purchased from just school wear in Long Eaton or online from Tesco

Our required dress code, endorsed by the governing body, is:

ALL YEAR

  • Plain trousers and skirts in grey or black - skirt length should be knee length.
  • White or red shirts, blouses or T-shirts.
  • Sweatshirts, jumpers and cardigans in red.
  • Plain black, sensible shoes with little or no heel.

SUMMER

  • Plain shorts, trousers, polo-shirts, dress and skirts based on the school colours (red, grey).
  • Shoes as above. Children may also wear sandals provided their foot is securely fastened in the sandal i.e. no flip flops.

PE

  • Plain black shorts or leggings/ joggers, plain red round neck t-shirt.
  • Plain black tracksuit bottoms and plain sweatshirt in black.
  • Trainers are required for outdoor use.

Important reminder

As you are well aware, children are very good at losing their clothes and red shirts all look the same. With this in mind, we would ask that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child's name. This applies particularly to such things as anoraks, pullovers, cardigans, ties, wellingtons, plimsolls and P.E. vests, sweatshirts.

You can order name labels by clicking on the link below. Please use fundraising code 6056 when ordering

Accessories

  • The school has a strict policy on the wearing of jewellery. No jewellery should be worn with the exception of 1 pair of gold or silver small studs. These will need to be removed by the child during PE/swimming.
  • Hair accessories should be small sized and school colours.
  • Hairstyles should be school appropriate.
  • Watches should be functional and must not have cameras/videos or apps on.

Late and Absence procedures.

If your child is late, after the school gates have closed. Please bring them through the office where you will be asked to sign them in.

If your child is absent, it is the school policy that you ring and let the school know as soon as you can, the reason why and how long they will be absent for.

If you are collecting your child early, please do this via the office, where you will be asked to sign them out.

For all holidays a Leave of Absence form must be submitted.
