Friday 15th December
The children have worked brilliantly this week on rhyming poetry. They generated different imagery technique ideas, worked collaboratively with a partner and then wrote stanzas independently today. They have also begun work on their cross stitching. A huge well done to Isla and Thomas, who were this week's REACH award winners! Next week the children do not need to wear their PE kits on any day, we will begin PE again in January. Also, we have our Lower Junior Christmas party on Thursday so don't forget to wear your Christmas party clothes for the day.

Friday 8th December
It was lovely to see the class in their Christmas Jumpers today! It was a great way to celebrate after all their hard work during celebration week this week. The class have demonstrated their Autumn term Year 4 learning well. A huge well done to Darcey, who received this week's Blue Whale award in assembly.

Friday 1st December
We have begun looking at poetry this week and identifying rhyming patterns and language used to paint a picture. We are also looking forward to finding out the results of our teeth experiment with eggs. We have placed them in different liquids to see the affects. Next week will be celebration week in school and we will finish the week with Christmas jumper day.

Friday 24th November
Well done to Blue Whale class this week, who have planned their audio podcasts, considering designs for theit cross stitching and continued their work on Global Warming. A huge well done to Erinn, who gained our whale of the week REACH certificate! Next week, we have individual school photos on Wednesday and our Christmas fair on Friday after school.

Friday 17th November 2023
Blue Whale Class did fantastically this week with our class assembly. Thank you to everyone that could attend and watch. We also enjoyed celebrating Children in Need today with non-uniform/spotty outfits and a visit from Pudsey in assembly. A huge well done to Aunrey that was our Blue Whale of the week earning the REACH certificate. Please remember that school is closed this coming Tuesday but we are in for the rest of the week.

Friday 20th October 2023
This week the class have worked on planning and writing their own narratives. They were brilliant in adapting their plans to full paragraphs to tell their own Barney and Stig adventures based on Stig of the Dump. Well done to Harry, who was this week's wonderful whale gaining the REACH certificate. Next week, is our parents meetings on Wednesday evening. I look forward to meeting everyone then.

The class took part in our MP election this week. We heard from each of the candidates and then voted for who we thought would be best to represent our class in Dovedale parliment. We are looking forward to the results next week. Our wonderful whale award went to Isla today, a huge well done.

Today, the class represented Dovedale brilliantly at Wilsthorpe School for a Netball Festival. They took part in different activities to practise their skills. The class also added their food donations to our Harvet Festival display in the school hall. A huge well done to the wonderful whale of the week, Kobey!

Friday 22nd September 2023
We have had another productive week, with the children looking at different artefacts from the Stone Age to the Iron Age and learning about the similarities and differences of flowering and non-flowering plants. Our wonderful whale of the week is Olivia, a huge well done to you! Next week our class will be representing Dovedale on a Netfest event led by Erewash School Sports Partnership at Wilsthorpe School on Friday afternoon. Please make sure the children have their coats, a water bottle and wear their school PE kit on this day.

We have had our first full week in school and that has allowed us to begin all our new units of learning. This has included violin lessons, categorising animals and writing setting descriptions for Stig of the Dump. This week our REACH certificate winner or wonderful whale of the week is Colt, well done!

Welcome to Blue Whale Class! It has been excellent to see the children back at school this week. They have settled brilliantly into Year 4 and are demonstrating great learning behaviours and respect. We have even had some role models in the classroom already! Thank you to everyone that completed their summer holiday homework. I am taking a look at all the wonderful research you did about blue whales. Next week, will bring us chance to start some more units of learning including our violin lessons on Wednesday.
