Can you believe it...we are now in Spring 2! 
We hope you have had a lovely break and are ready for the next half term. We are returning to our history knowledge block of learning this half term...and boy it's a big one. In fact our learning about Saxons and Vikings will stretch into the first summer term as well. We will delve into a world of constant turmoil in the battle for control of England. We will discover why Alfred the Great was the only English King to have Great in his name. We will study artefacts and find out about what things we think we know about the Vikings are true- and which are myths.
In English lessons we will be practising our oracy skills with some new games and techniques. We will also be writing some lively fiction and descriptions using our learning in history for inspiration. During maths sessions we will be continuing to practise and revise links with fractions, decimals and percentages.
In PSHCE we will be covering the year 5 knowledge block of learning for Sex and Relationship Education. This will include a lot of discussion based learning. We will send you dojo messages about what we have covered / or about to cover in class to ensure you are well informed. The knowledge organiser is below- please have a look if you can.

It's the spring term!
Welcome everyone to our fantastic NEW YEAR. We are very excited to be continuing with geography this term. Our focus will be on the UK. We will learn what constitutes the United Kingdom, British Isles and Great Britain. We will explore the landscape and learn about the highest peaks and our beautiful coastline. We will be asking what makes the UK so special.
In English we will be doing some Flashback learning to reinforce learning from the first term and continue to build skills in writing. The children will write their own stories based on the book Escape from Pompeii. This will build on our learning from the volcanoes knowledge block and the children get to be super creative.
