Autumn Term

Friday 17th December:

The children have completed there Tia-Chi unit this half-term with Paul. The children were all awarded a certificate for their efforts. The class also got to enjoy an online Panto this Thursday, laughs could definitely be heard from the classroom! A HUGE well done to Catherine for being this week's REACH certificate winner. Only 3 more school days to go until the Christmas Holidays! Wednesday 22nd is our party day in the morning were the children can wear their party clothes. I am looking forward to it.

Friday 10th December:

It was lovely to see everyone in their Christmas jumpers today!! It was very festive alongside our celebration day with the children completing some fun activities in the classroom and had PE outside with Miss Harris' class. A huge well done to Colin for being this week's REACH certificate winner. Next week, we have Christmas dinner on Wednesday.

Friday 3rd December:

I can't believe we have entered December this week! The children enjoyed seeing the Christmas tree and our advent up on Wednesday. We have begun some work for celebration week this week and this will continue next week concluding with a celebration day on the Friday. A huge well done to Joseph for getting the REACH certificate this week for his writing. Don't forget we have Bikeability dates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon for completing Level 1.

Friday 26th November:

We have been working on newspaper reports over the last couple of weeks and it was lovely to see the final results today. A huge well done to Warren for gaining a REACH certificate as well.

Friday 19th November:

A massive round of applause to our class for completing the class assembly this week. It was so lovely to see parents back in the hall to watch it so thank you for attending. We have also enjoyed some anti-bullying activities and Children In Need this week. A huge well done to Faith for being our REACH certificate winner today.

Friday 12th November:

It has been a busy but exciting week this week as we have completed lots of different activities in the hall. This has including school photos, the School Council election and Remembrance. A super well done to George and Penny who were voted our School Councillors. Also, another well done to Penny for being today's REACH certificate winner. We have begun rehearsing for the class assembly, which we are performing just for parents on Thursday. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Friday 5th November:

It has been lovely to see Jeremy Strong Class back after the half term break. We began some of our new units this week, including Music, PSCHE and Computing. The class also started Tai-Chi with our instructor Paul, who explained the importance of the activity. On Thursday, the class enjoyed celebrating Diwali. Thank you to everyone that brought in their holiday homework too, our display now looks brilliant in the corridor!

Friday 22nd October: 

We have made it to half-term! Well done everyone you have been fantastic settling into Year 4 and being respectful around school. Another huge well done to Nevaeh today, who was our REACH certificate winner. Over half-term we have set some October half-term work relating to our Normans unit, please see the sheet the children brought home or on class dojo.

Friday 15th October:

It was lovely to see everyone for parents meetings this week. Thank you for attending. The children enjoyed a live internet safety assembly today while working on their narrative writing. It has been lovely to see the stories the children produced after planning them across the fortnight.

Friday 8th October: 

It was lovely to see everyone wear yellow today for World Mental Health Day. We managed to do some mindfulness breathing. Well done to Sophie and Jacob for becoming our class Mental Health Champions. Also, well done to Mason for being this week's REACH certificate winner. Congratulations!

Friday 1st October:

It was lovely to see Jeremy Strong Class dressed up for our Harvest Festival Day on Wednesday. Thank you for all your donations too! All the Year 4's enjoyed singing a Harvest Song in the tune of 'Shotgun' by George Ezra. Our REACH certificate winner this week was Ollie, a great big well done to you!

Friday 24th September:

We have enjoyed beginning to look at the events of the Battle of Hastings this week by exploring sections of the Bayeux Tapestry. We executed half and full turns in our gymnastics lesson and practised the switch pass in Rugby. On Wednesday, we had some helpers in from the Long Eaton School Sixth Form to hear us read. Then to finish the week on Friday, we classified animals and living things that we found out of the classroom. Our REACH nomination was Jacob this week. A huge well done to you!

Friday 17th September:

Another week completed. The children have been making strides this week with their pencil sketching textures, Spanish classroom items, knowledge of living things and playing music. We have also had our first REACH certificate winner.... Tayla. A huge well done.

Friday 10th September:

We have completed our first full week this week, well done everyone! We have begun our curriculum including the Normans in history, looking where this fits in time compared to other periods. We have begun to categorise animals into vertebrate and invertebrate. Along with learning the 'Howdown' to sing (this finished off our week really cheerfully). Have a great weekend.

Friday 3rd September:

Welcome to our Jeremy Strong Blog! It has been great to see everyone in our class over the last two days and to get them settled in Year 4. We have been able to share activities we completed over the holiday and wrote a recount. We also took part in different maths games as part of a training camp, were everyone received a certificate for taking part. There has also been some excellent artwork for our classroom door and individual bookmarks.

Well done to all the children for settling into their new classroom and table groups as well as being very respectful. I look forward to the first full week with everyone next week.
