Spring Term

Friday 31st March

All of the Lower Juniors, including Julius Caesar class, have been fantastic this week in their Lower Junior production of The Warrior Queen: Boudicca and the Romans. They have worked incredibly hard over the half-term and have performed their best to each audience this week - remembering lines, stage directions, dances and songs! They all deserved a well earned break over Easter. Chance to eat a lot of chocolate as a treat! We are back to school on Monday 17th April, see you all then.

Friday 24th March 

We continued our Science week with an assembly from Urban Nature Project on Monday. The children got to see some of the specimins from the Wollaton Hall collection. We have also been working hard on the concert, ready for our performances nexts week. Please check your dojo messages, if your child needs to bring in any clothes to go with their costume e.g. trousers, white t-shirt. These will be needed each day next week as we complete our dress rehearsals and performances to parents. We are very much looking forward for you to see 'The Warrior Queen' performances!

Friday 17th March 

Julius Caesar class have been working hard for celebration week, we only have one more day on Monday ending with the class going to their expert groups on Monday afternoon. We have also been enjoying science week with our science learning this week. We completed some short investigations in our classroom and with Mrs McGowan. We also showcased our water cycle investigation in the showcase assembly. Next week, the class have an assembly and a bird workshop to look forward to. A huge well done to Sahil this week, for gaining a REACH certificate.

Friday 10th March 

Julius Ceasar class have been working hard this week alongside our concert rehearsals. The children are doing well to be learning their lines and remember the song words. Their is a letter home today (also under the letters home tab on the website) about concert dates, times and how to access tickets. A huge well done to Esme today for being our REACH certificate winner, for challenging herself with her Maths fraction work. Next week, is celebration week alongside Science week. We will be completing some science activities and workshops over the next couple of weeks. Friday 17th March is Red Nose Day where the children can wear non-uniform to school. Please just bear in mind that the children will still be attending swimming and need to be able to change in and out of their outfit easily.

Friday 3rd March 

It has been great to see the children back to school this week. We enjoyed World Book Day on Thursday, with the children dressing as some of their favourite characters or in their pjs. They have also done really well with their first swimming lesson today. They were very respectful out in Long Eaton and the lesuire centre as well as trying their best with their swimming. A huge well done to Oscar, who is this week's REACH certificate winner!

Friday 10th February

Well done to all of Julius Caesar Class for receiving this week's REACH certificate for their incredible attitude this week. They have been respectful and kind to each other and adults. They were model students, demonstrating all our Dovedale values and behaviours around school. You have made Miss Barrett very proud! We have celebrated Children's Mental Health Week this week and completed different activiites along with watching Mr Men and Little Miss stories about our emotions. It was lovely to see everyone wear their slippers or socks around the classroom on Wednesday too! Next week, we will be taking part in audtions for our Year 3 and Year 4 concert. Please be allowing time for your child to learn/rehearse the section of the script that they have brought home in preparation.

Friday 3rd February

The class have worked hard on their persuasive writing over the last couple of weeks and have written brilliant persuasive letters to Mrs Houseman to try and persuade her to let us go on a trip to the USA (I wonder if she would said yes)! This week's REACH certificate winner was Alex, a huge well done to you. Next week, we are celebrating Children's Mental Health Week with assemblies, activities and even wearing our slippers to school on Wednesday.

Friday 27th January 

Well done to the class this week for their hard work! Mrs Tomlinson even popped into one of our English lessons and said how the children all had the right learning behaviours to be achieving! The class have been progressing well with Rhythmic gymnastics and Netball. They have also been enjoying listening to our class read of The Twits by Roald Dahl.

Friday 20th January 

The class have had another busy week with their learning, completing written methods for multiplication and writing fantastic explanation texts about North and South America! Well done to Rowena, who was our REACH certificate winner this week, for joining our class and settling in so well.

Friday 13th January 

Welcome back to school! The children have come back working hard in the new year. We have begun our new units of learning and the children have enjoyed taking a look at marbling printing and what it is. The class were good at naming and locating different continents as we are studying North and South America. Also, everyone enjoyed our first lessons of rhythmic gymnastics and Netball. A huge well done to Elijah who was our REACH certificate winner this week!
