Welcome to the Pupil Premium page. Miss Berrington is the Pupil Premium Lead and is dedicated to ensuring all children reach their personal and academic potential. Our staff are very passionate about improving the life chances for all pupils.
Pupil Premium is funding the government provides to schools to help improve attainment and outcomes for disadvantaged children. Children in receipt of free school meals, have been cared for by the local authority or are a services child (parents may be in the armed forces) are entitled to this additional funding. Children who have previously been eligible for free school meals are eligible to funding for the entirety of their primary school journey. (This is referred to as Ever6.)
Funding is not necessarily a personal budget per child, it can be used to fund approaches that may benefit all children, including vulnerable pupils. Pupil premium is used to minimise barriers to learning through a three-tiered approach:
- Promoting High Quality Teaching
- Providing Targeted Support
- Tackling wider barriers to learning which includes emotional well-being and broadening opportunities.
We have adopted evidence informed approaches using the Education Endowment Fund’s (EEF) toolkit to ensure effective, measurable strategies are in place and are pertinent to the needs of the children in our setting. Michelle Metcalf, our Chair of Governors, is responsible for ensuring that the school abides by its statutory duties and that the Pupil Premium is used to raise the attainment, progress and life chances of pupils.
At Dovedale Primary we are committed to the development of the whole child. We offer support to all parents and families without judgement. We have written a strategy based on our knowledge and understanding of the pupils in our school, as well as what parents and school data tells us, all within the context of the school community.
