Update to key worker information

Thank you for your continued patience.

The Government guidance on Critical Key Worker Roles was published overnight. This includes sectors and roles that meet the criteria.

The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend to continue to support social distancing and protect the children and staff.

Critical Sectors have been identified as:

  • Health and social care
  • Education and childcare
  • Key public services
  • Local and national government
  • Food and other necessary goods
  • Public safety and national security
  • Transport
  • Utilities, communication and financial services

If you think your role falls within the critical categories above you should confirm with your employer that your specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service.

We will contact all key worker families who contacted us regarding a place directly when we have identified who needs to access this reduced provision in order to plan for staffing and limit social contact as much as possible. It may be necessary for us to seek clarification on why the 2nd household member cannot care for the child and we will continue to monitor this as the time goes on.

Parents of key workers attending the provision should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially at other times in a way which could continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.

I appreciate that there is a lot of concern and worry over what is happening, however my priority is to keep the children and staff safe at this difficult time and I thank all parents for their measured and sensible approach.
