    Happy Friday all!

    It has been a great week here at Dovedale and a great end to what has been quite a long term. With all the uncertainties around how this term would play out I am appreciative for the community support we receive from our parents. It makes a tricky job so much easier! I am sure you are aware that there is renewed talk of new restrictions out and about and we will adjust our risk assessment accordingly if directed to do so, and as always I will let you know anything relevant as it occurs.

    The children as always have been a delight and school has continued to be a calm productive, fun place to be.

    I would also like to say a huge thank you to all our staff- it's been a funny term not knowing quite how it will unfold and as always they have carried on putting the children's learning and well being at the forefront of all they do. They really are a great team and I am grateful for all their hard work and dedication.

    On that note I wanted to share with you a piece written by one of our year 6 children -Oliver- in the style of an M and S advert.

    Delicious cuisine lovingly cooked by dinnertime Debbie and her excellent gang;

    The best teachers in the world, freshly picked by our out of this world headteacher;

    Resources for all topics, fun and enjoyable for anyone.

    Toilets with such good plumbing that all the pipes make you go dizzy;

    REACH values rich in matureness and coated in brilliance;

    Clubs where you come to have a fantastic time and you leave with a smile on your face so big it looks like a banana.

    Brilliant break time, lovely lunch monitored by smart, epic, covered with knowledge adults,

    Thrive where you go with troubling worries and leave believing that that was the best day of your life.

    This isn't just a school, this is Dovedale school!

    Happy half term everyone.

    Happy Friday all,

    I hope you have all had a good week. We have had a lovely week here at Dovedale.

    This week we have talked to the children about aiming high and being aspirational for themselves-there is nothing they can't do if they aim really high for their future adults! We have also had an internet safety assembly today. Please remember to regularly check in on your child's internet searches and make sure you've set parental controls so you know exactly what they can access.

    The link below helps you to know how to do this.

    https://www.pandasecurity.com/en/mediacenter/panda-security/parental-control/

    Under the THRIVE tab Miss Martin has added some THRIVE activities to support mental health and well being. Do check them out.

    We are asking the children who usually come through the side gate ( Not the bin gate) in a morning to line up on the grass so that we can get them in by year group.

    This is to stop the stampede that we seem to be getting with all the children rushing through the gate at once. The children will line up in their year groups then once we open the gate at 8.50 we will take them in one line at a time.

    If you collect your child from the main playground at the end of the day can we ask that you leave the playground promptly. The gates need to be locked by 3.25 to secure the space for WRAP club. Children should not be playing on the equipment as it is difficult for the adults to monitor the children who should be there and may cause a safeguarding issue. Thank you for you support with this. If you need to speak with the teacher and the gates are locked exit through the school main office.

    As we know several families have experienced a change in circumstances due to Covid 19. If your income has changed and you are on benefits please remember to check to see if you are eligible for free school meals at

    https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/education/schools/your-child-at-school/meals/school-meals/free-school-meals.aspx

    Even if your child is currently receiving the infant free school meals ( also known as universal free school meals) you should still apply as there can be other advantages to this.

    If any families find they are struggling please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to support you.

    A reminder that we break up for half term next Friday - children in school and Monday 1st November is an INSET day so the children are not in school - staff are doing first aid training on this day.

    Have a lovely weekend

    Happy Friday all,

    What a busy week!

    We had a great harvest celebration day and it was lovely to see so many children wearing autumn, fruit or vegetable colours or full on costumes! We all had a great day and the donations were truly immense.

    We are also currently completing activities for Black History month. Although we celebrate equality and diversity at all times throughout our school year we use this month to focus in on racism and inequality as well as celebrating the contribution made to Great Britain by individuals from African or Caribbean backgrounds (amongst others). This is a very important part of our values teaching.

    Next week our assemblies in school will focus on mental health and the strategies we can use to keep our mental health healthy.

    You should now be aware that parent's evening slots are open for booking. If you have any difficulties with this do contact your child's class teacher or the school office.

    Don't forget to check out our twitter page to see some of the things we have been getting up to.

    I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
