Applying for a school place
 

Admissions to Dovedale Primary School are processed by the Local Authority as part of the Derbyshire Coordinated Admissions Scheme. You will find guidance about application dates and access to online application forms for primary school places on the Derbyshire County Council (DCC) Primary Admissions page. Applications can also be made via post or over the phone.

Details of application dates & offer dates are published when they become available each year.   These can be found on the DCC website admissions pages. 

If you would like to make an in-year admission to move or change schools, please contact the DCC admissions team at any point in the year. 

If you would like to appeal against a decision, please scroll down the page for further information on making an appeal.

If your child attends a school outside of Derbyshire it may operate a different pattern of education.  Please see the DCC website or contact the school for further information.

In-year admissions

Admissions for 2023/2024

For admissions in September 2023/24:

• The application round opens on 7th November 2022 and closes on 15 January 2023 
• The offer date for the September 2023 intake is 17th April 2023 (National Offer Day)
• If you apply online you'll also be able to log on to the website from this date to view your offer.
• If you don't have an email address, your offer will be posted second class on 17th April 2023

Appeals

If you're unhappy with the decision you can make a primary school admissions appeal

In-year admissions only

• If your appeal relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 28 days of being told that your application was unsuccessful. 

2023/24 application round

• If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school in September 2023 and you are told of the decision on 17th April 2023 (National Offer Day) you should submit your appeal by 15th May 2023. 

• If you are told of an infant, junior or primary decision after 17th April 2023 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 28 days of being told that your application was unsuccessful. 

2024/25 application round  

• If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school in September 2024 and you are told of the decision on 16th April 2024 (National Offer Day) you should submit your appeal by 15th May 2024. 

• If you are told of an infant, junior or primary decision after 16th April 2024 or it relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 28 days of being told that your application was unsuccessful.

Statutory consultation for admissions in 2022/23 (now closed)

The directors of Willows Academy Trust last consulted on the admissions arrangements for Dovedale Primary School for admissions in 2022/23, in accordance with the statutory requirement set out in the School Admissions Code for schools to consult on their admissions arrangements every 7 years.  The consultation ran from 9 November to 21 December 2020.  No representations to change the arrangements were submitted.  No change has been made to the admissions arrangements at Dovedale Primary School. 

Admissions Consultation for 2025/2026

Outcome of the statutory consultation on the admission arrangements for Dovedale Primary School

The trustees of ONE Academy Trust (the Admissions Authority) last consulted on the admissions arrangements for Dovedale Primary School in Autumn 2023 for admissions in 2025/26, in accordance with the statutory requirements set out in the School Admissions Code.  The consultation ran from Monday 20th Nov 2023 - Monday 8th Jan 2024. The purpose of the consultation was to change the Admissions Authority from Willows Academy Trust to ONE Academy Trust and re-format the document.  There were no changes to the admissions arrangements.
