  • Friday Update

    Fri 30 Apr 2021 S Houseman

    Happy Friday all,

We hope you have all had a good week, we certainly have here in school.

Thank you to the teachers this week for managing the parent's evening's over the phone. It's a tricky way to get across everything they have to say in the allotted time but we have had some great feedback.

If you didn't manage to book a slot please contact your child's class teacher.

Elaine Jones-our community link governor has offered to come in to school to do some small group work to support our well being curriculum. She is well qualified in this area and we are grateful that we have such proactive governors who care about our children's well being as much as we do. This will be around giving the children a voice to express their concerns or worries and will further support our THRIVE and Well being Wednesday work.

Mrs Thorpe has given her class the exciting news that she is expecting a baby in the autumn term. We have appointed a class teacher to cover her maternity leave for the coming year.

I have placed this week's REACH assembly for nominated children under the children's tab - Mrs Houseman's updates.

I'm sure you are aware that it is bank holiday weekend and we will welcome the children back on Tuesday 4th May ( Star Wars jokes pending!)

    Keep safe.

  • Friday update

    Fri 23 Apr 2021 S Houseman

Happy Friday and Happy St George's day.

I hope you are all well and safe and have been able to enjoy the sunshine a bit.

We have had a good week back here at school with a start on our full curriculum. As a school we have devised our new curriculum using the national curriculum guidelines to support our children's progression through the learning modules from EYFS to year 6. This is a curriculum we have devised as a school and have worked over the past year to monitor and adapt with a view to full implementation in the autumn term once we have a good run of the full term (all fingers crossed). We are very excited that our new curriculum is designed to give our children the best academic, social and moral education that they can throughout their time with us.

Examples of our curriculum design will be updated under the key information tab shortly.

Next Wednesday it is whole class photos. Please remember to send your child in their uniforms and not their PE kits if this is usually their PE day.

I have received several holiday requests this week where families feel they need time away after a difficult year or holidays or events  have been rescheduled. I can only authorise holidays within the usual exceptional circumstances guidelines. I realise this is difficult for some people to understand or accept, however many people are in the same situation and if it is a holiday I can't authorise it during term time.

We wish you all a lovely weekend.

  • Thursday update

    Thu 01 Apr 2021 S Houseman

    Happy Thursday all,

A great week here at school finished off with a very colourful Easter bonnet parade. It was great to see them all parading around outside of the classrooms even though it was a bit cold and windy. Great work all!

I know some pictures are going on our Twitter page so look out for these.

It has been a strange half term-half in-half out but we feel the children have generally coped well with all the changes and we are looking forward to starting the summer term altogether and getting on with our full, new curriculum.

We are hoping that the summer term will bring opportunities for getting together a little more and maybe even holding some events like sport's afternoon!

I know many of you have already signed up for parent's evening-if you are experiencing any trouble with booking your slot please contact your child's class teacher or the school office and we will support you with this.

Please make sure you have completed the RSE consultation questionnaire, the full parent's questionnaire will land after Easter.

We hope you all have a lovely, safe Easter and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 17th April.
