  • Friday update

    Fri 16 Oct 2020 S Houseman

    Good afternoon all,

I hope you and your families are all keeping well. Remember if you have any concerns or worries we are here to listen. Contact through the school office and we will try to support you through this ongoing difficult time.

As we are now moving in to 'tier 2' can I suggest that parents/carers picking up or dropping off wear a face covering. It can get a little busy at times and I am naturally conscious of keeping you all safe. I know it isn't mandatory outside at the moment but may make some people feel more secure or comfortable and we are all in this together.

I am happy to report that all our year 2 children will be returning on Monday with only the 1 case having been reported. Although it is frustrating to have to isolate we know this is the way forward to keep all our children safe and feel that any further cases were minimised on this occasion. The children have been receiving daily home schooling and this will be the case with any future bubbles affected. Your class teacher will be in touch via dojo if this is the case and there is a secure area under the children's tab for this offsite learning. Please make sure you have signed up for the dojo app. We know it can be very difficult for parents to home school-please discuss any potential barriers that we may be able to assist with now with your class teachers or myself so that we can address them just in case. (fingers crossed we won't have to have any more closures).

Please remember to send your child in to school with an appropriate coat for outdoors. The children need to be in the fresh air but it is getting rather damp and chilly!

As of next week we will be selling poppies and the other usual items (In class bubbles only). Please send children with money in a purse or envelope if you would like them to buy something. (If you would like to stipulate 'poppy only' then just pop a note in with it as there are things like wrist bands and rubbers usually available).

I have put this week's REACH assembly on the website under the offsite learning section.

I hope you all have a lovely, safe weekend.

  • Friday update

    Fri 02 Oct 2020 S Houseman

    Another week has flown by!

We are continuing to stay healthy and well and thank you for your help with this. We know we are a large community and so we feel that we are all working together on this.

    Lunch boxes

We have decided that parents may send in lunchboxes instead of bags as from Monday. The boxes will need to be washed on return home. We are now confident that the children are able to keep their belongings separate and the other systems are all in place. This will also help with the issue of recycling as championed by Rowan in year 5. Please continue to only send in the lunch boxes or bags and the reading style bags. This has made a big impact on the amount of space we have.

A reminder that lunches should be healthy. Children are allowed a chocolate biscuit treat but should not have just chocolate bars or sweets. We are seeing an increasing number of children bring more than 1 chocolate bar in their lunch box.

    Uniform/presentation

Can I remind parents that children should be in appropriate school uniform, not wearing jewellery, a watch and a pair of stud earrings are acceptable and hair styles should be school appropriate. This means the hair should be a natural colour and not have shapes or lines cut into it.

I have put the REACH assembly under the children's update tab.

    Have a lovely weekend all.
