Welcome to Spring 2
Well hello everyone, what a term we have in store. We are so lucky to be doing Forest School and Tai Chi this half term. Just what we need after the winter months.
In science we will be moving onto properties of materials and investigating what happens to materials under different conditions. It will be our annual Science week in the third week back and we have lots of activities organised- very exciting. In history we will be coming back to the Saxons and begin to investigate their struggle for power with the Vikings- what a time of turmoil! We will be writing news articles about Lindisfarne as well as discovering the only King in England to have ever been called 'Great'...
In PSHCE we will be covering our curriculum in the RSE (Relationship Sex Education) knowledge block. We would recommend that you take a look at the knowledge organiser for this.

Welcome to Spring 1
We are very pleased to be kicking off the new year with a fantastic geography knowledge block all about the UK. We will be exploring the United Kingdom, investigating its special features which will include rivers, mountains and national parks. We will use geographical language to describe human and physical elements of geographical study and how they impact the environment around us. Our learning in science will focus on Earth and space, which will include the study of the planets, the moon and day and night.
In English we will be incorporating some flashback learning with a brilliant text called Escape from Pompeii. We will explore imagery, show not tell and tension as well as all the other targets we practise in year 5 for writing. Later in the term we will be writing persuasive brochures about the UK coastline.
