Safeguarding including internet safety
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. This means;
- protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
- preventing harm to children’s health or development
- ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.
At Dovedale Primary School the safety and wellbeing of our pupils is at the heart of all we do.
The thread of safeguarding runs through all policies and procedures and throughout our school day.
Mrs Houseman is the designated safeguarding lead in our school, Mrs Tomlinson and Miss Martin are the deputy safeguarding leaders. Michelle Metcalfe is the governor responsible for safeguarding.
All staff update their safeguarding training yearly, receive updates on a regular basis in staff training and are required to read and sign appropriate and statutory documents.
Safeguarding includes child protection, health and safety, e-safety, and wellbeing including anti bullying.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the health and safety of a child or a safeguarding process please contact the school office and arrange an appointment to see Mrs Houseman who will be more than happy to discuss this with you.
Who do I contact if I have a concern?
Safeguarding is everybody's business and so if you have any concerns regarding the welfare of a child at Dovedale Primary School please contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Houseman, Mrs Tomlinson or Miss Martin).
