Applying for a school place
 

Admissions to Dovedale Primary School are processed by the Local Authority as part of the Derbyshire Coordinated Admissions Scheme. You will find guidance about application dates and access to online application forms for primary school places on the Derbyshire County Council (DCC) Primary Admissions page. Applications can also be made via post or over the phone.

 

Details of application dates & offer dates are published when they become available each year.   These can be found on the DCC website admissions pages. 

 

If you would like to make an in-year admission to move or change schools, please contact the DCC admissions team at any point in the year. 

 

If you would like to appeal against a decision, please scroll down the page for further information on making an appeal.

 

If your child attends a school outside of Derbyshire it may operate a different pattern of education.  Please see the DCC website or contact the school for further information.

 

Visiting our school

We offer tours of the school in the Autumn term each year before the deadline date for applications, and we welcome you to contact us to arrange a visit.  If you are considering making an in-year admission application, you are also welcome to contact us to arrange a visit.  

In-year admissions

 

If you want to make an application for an in-year admission to our school you will need to make an in-year application through Derbyshire County Council which administers our admissions process.  For more information regarding Derbyshire County Council's School Admissions procedures, please visit their website: https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/education/schools/school-places/changing-schools/changing-schools.aspx

Admissions 2027/28 (intake Sept 27)

 

For admissions in September 2027:

  • The application round opens on November 10th 2026 and closes at midnight on January 15th 2027
  • The offer date for the September 2027 intake is 16th April 2027 (National Offer Day) 
  • If you apply online, you'll also be able to log on to the Local Authority portal from this date to view your offer.
  • If you don't have an email address, your offer will be posted second class on 16th April 2027


Published Admissions Number (PAN)

The Published Admissions Number (PAN) for 2027/28 is 60

 

For admissions in September 2026:

  • The application round opens on 10th November 2025 and closes on 15 January 2026
  • The offer date for the September 2026 intake is 16 April 2026 (National Offer Day)
  • If you apply online you'll also be able to log on to the website from this date to view your offer.
  • If you don't have an email address, your offer will be posted second class on 16 April 2026

Appeals

 

If you're unhappy with the decision you can make a primary school admissions appeal

 

In-year admissions only

  • If your appeal relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal within 20 days of being told that your application was unsuccessful. 

 

2026/27 application round

If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school in September 2026 and you are told of the decision on 16th April 2026 (National Offer Day) you should submit your appeal to the Local Authority by the date stated in your letter/available on the Local Authority website which will be at least 20 school days from the National Offer Day.   

  • If you are told of an infant, junior or primary decision after 16th April 2026, or it relates to an in-year admission, you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of being told your application was unsuccessful. 

 

2027/28 application round
