Year 5: Mr Almeida - Red Pandas

Welcome to Year 5, Red Panda Class!

Both myself ( Mr Almeida) and our team of amazing TA's (Mrs Thomas and Miss Gunnell) are thrilled to welcome you to the official website of the Red Panda Class.

This digital area has been specially designed to keep you connected with our wonderful class and stay informed about all the exciting adventures and learning experiences that await our young scholars.

In the Red Panda Class, we believe that every day is an opportunity for discovery, growth, and friendship. Our dedicated team are committed to nurturing the minds and hearts of our students, creating a warm and inclusive learning environment where everyone can thrive.

On this website, you will find a trove of information about our class, including spellings, upcoming events, classroom activities, and ways to get involved in your child's education journey. While this will tell you about upcoming things within the year, for a more direct method of finding out what's going on in Red Panda class please head over to classdojo. There you will find any class updates that happen throughout the year.

We encourage you to visit class dojo regularly, as we will be updating it with exciting news, important announcements, and resources to support your child's learning. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to chat about your child's progress.

My email is dalmeida@dovedale.derbyshire.sch.uk or you can logon and send a message via Classdojo if you have questions in regards to your child. If you have administration issues please contact the school office like usual.

I hope you have enjoyed your Easter break and ready to breakthrough into Summer term 1! Where is this school year going!?

Here you will find the knowledge organisers full of information the children will be learning throughout each term. They will be updated as we progress through the course of the year.

This half term our PE days will be on Monday (Indoor)  and Friday (Outdoor)!

Homework will be set on a weekly basis. It usually alternates between a mathematics activity, mymaths for example, and an English activity, spag.com for example. Sometimes we may set a paper based activity, which we will give plenty of notice for. If you need a computer based activity printing out, please let me know via dojo and we can do that for you.

We expect ALL children, EVERY week to learn their spellings in preparation for their weekly test. Times tables MUST be learnt and time spent on TT rock stars is a must.

Finally, we encourage children to read as much as possible at home, both to themselves and to their parents. Reading at home is vital to compliment and reinforce what we are doing in school. We reward children with merits for 3 reads a week.

We will set the spellings on spelling shed each week. There will be occasions when children choose words from the year 5 /6 list whereby spellings will not be put online to learn. We expect spellings to be learnt, although it doesn't have to be on Spelling Shed. We always aim for the whole class to achieve full marks- we love to celebrate when we do!
