Year 3: Mrs McGowan - Gorillas

Welcome to Gorillas Class.

Welcome to Gorillas Class, which is made up of 30 fantastic children, venturing into Juniors for the first time.  Our class teacher is Mrs McGowan and we are lucky to have differnet teaching assistants who will also be supporting us during each week of our journey: Ms Rawson, Mrs Edwards and Mrs Kinderman.  Mrs Kinderman also teaches us once  a fortnight when Mrs McGowan is working on our next stage of learning, during her Planning, Preparation and Assessment (P.P.A.) time.

Please feel free to browse through this class webpage to find lots of useful information

and updates on all the adventures we encounter.

PE Days

  • Our PE Days for the Summer 1 term  are Wednesday (Indoor) and Thursday (Outdoor).

On PE days, children should wear their school PE kit which includes a plain red t-shirt with or without the school logo, a plain black zip-up jacket and plain black joggers/shorts.

Please select a leaf from above to find out more about what is happening in each term.  These pages will provide useful information on the subjects being covered, knowledge organisers to support learning and class blogs which provide a sample of our adventures and achievements.

Homework

Each Friday one of the following activities will be set online:

  • MyMaths
  • Spag.com
  • TTRockstars Battle

In addition to the online activities, children will be required to:

  • Read (3 times to an adult and get their school diary signed by them to be awarded a merit)
  • Learning and practising times tables
  • Spellings

Spellings

Spelling lists of 10 words will be given out each week for children to stick in their school diaries.  Each list will consist of words that follow a set spelling rule and should be learned by the following week. Learning the rule can help to break down the words in order to make them easier to spell. One way to practise is using the Spelling Shed account which will have the same spellings as in the diary.

Supporting your child with homework

Your child may find bbc bitesize helpful in supporting your child on a whole host of subjects including grammar knowledge for the Spag.com homework.  Please use the links below where you see fit.
