23rd April: Suffix –cian (used instead of –sion when the root word ends in ‘c’ or ‘cs’)

30th April: Adding –ly to create adverbs of manner (adverbs describe how the verb is occurring)

Autumn 1

Autumn 1 will be slightly different to usual, we will be focused on catching the children up as much as possible with what they have missed over lock down. The first week we will be using assessments to get a better understanding of the gaps and will be planning accordingly.

 

Alongside this, we will continue to be covering other curriculum areas.

Science: Living things and habitats 

RE: What does it mean to be a Christian in Britain today? 

PE: Gymnastics, Tag Rugby 

 

Autumn 2 

Here is an idea of some of the things we will be doing in this half term! 

 

English: our book for next half term is 'I was there 1066 the Norman Conquest' by Jim Eldridge. We will use this as a stimulus for our writing. We will also be looking at poetry.  

Maths: Ordering and comparing numbers, rounding, multiplication, division and measures 

Science: Animals, including humans 

RE: What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today?

PSHE: Staying safe 

PE: Hockey, Dance 

Art: Pencil skills, drawing 

Computing: Digital citizenship 

 

Spring 1

Here is an idea of some of the things we will be doing in this half term! 

 

English: Persuasive writing, explanation texts and poetry

Maths: Fractions and decimals will be the main focus of next half term, with other areas also covered.

Science: Materials - the water cycle 

RE: Why are festivals important to religious people?

PSHE: Changes 

PE:  Netball/Cricket (we have someone coming in to help with cricket) and rhythmic gymnastics. PE days are Tuesday and Friday, children should come to school in their school PE kits on these days.
