Messages from Mrs Potter and Mrs Tomlinson

Hello everyone

Thank you to everyone who was able to make our end of year 'party'.  We hope the children enjoyed the fun and games, and of course seeing each other again before the summer holidays.  Our End of Year video is below which we hope you will enjoy watching.  It was so lovely to look through all of the photos of fun times and achievements at school and forest school.  Although it was a short year in terms of time at school, it feels like we packed a lot in!  Thank you for sending photos of your children at home - you may notice some appearing in the video.  It all contributes to what has been a very unusual year and we are truly very saddened about having our time with the lovely Italy class cut short.

We are very much looking forward to September when we hopefully get time to see the children again and to help ease them into Year 3. Miss Austen, who has been working with the children throughout the year will be moving to Year 3 with them, which we hope will be reassuring for the children.

As term finishes on Tuesday 21st July, we have planned two days of home learning activities as usual - please see the link below.

Further to this, along with the rest of the school, we are setting a 6 Week Summer Challenge for the children.  This takes the form of a variety of activities to do during the school holidays, to provide the opportunity for continuation of learning. These activities are entirely optional.  The challenge is to complete 15 minutes of an activity to receive a 'reward'. Please scroll down to see the new link with details of the Year 2 6 Week Challenge.

In September we look forward to celebrating all of the children's hard work - whether it be work completed as home learning during term time and / or the 6 Week Summer Challenge.

Please do contact us if you need clarification on anything.

Thank you so much for everything you have done smiley

Wishing you a wonderful summer,

Mrs Potter and Mrs Tomlinson

Look at how we have been keeping busy at home!

It's lovely to see what our classmates are getting up to while we aren't at school!  Having fun with our families at home and in the garden, as well as keeping busy with some of the home learning activities. Please keep sending your photos!

Look at what we did at school!

We had such a fun, muddy time at Forest School!  We loved exploring our outdoor space, playing games, making and following trails for each other. Thank you to Miss Barratt for organising such great activities for us!

We have loved Ling Peng's visits.  We have learnt a lot about Chinese New Year and have loved listening to her traditional Chinese stories and music.  We are very excited about our Chinese New Year performance and exhibition

Look at our wonderful homework creations!

We had a lovely visit to St Mary's Church for 'The Real Christmas'.  Thank you to all of the volunteers at St Mary's and all parents who were able to help with the trip.

We have been learning about Apollo 11 and in DT we are making our own rockets.  In science we made our own 'rocket explosion' by adding some mints to Coca-Cola.  We loved the result!

We had a lovely trip to West Park, where we took time to  think about how the park has developed over time.  We would love to share our West Park facts with you at home - ask us! We are experts!

Our classroom is full of wonderful time-machines that are ready to zoom back into the past or into the future!  We loved showing and talking about our creations.
