Welcome to CS Lewis Class
Welcome to our Year 6 class full of hard working children who love to learn and keep growing as people. Mr McCarthy is our teacher and our teaching assistant is Mrs Read. Together as a group, we make up CS Lewis class.
CS Lewis is a brilliant author and I love the themes he writes about in his books. Themes of adventure, using your imagination, but also of forgiveness and putting others before yourself.
You may already know that I'm a big Forest fan and enjoy watching them most weekends at The City Ground. I also enjoy watching many other sports and spending time with my little girl, who is growing up far too quickly!

If you find yourself at home over the next few weeks and are well enough, please try to:
- Read daily and record it in your planner (20 minutes at least).
- Spending 30 minutes on TT Rockstars.
- Practise the statutory spellings for Years 5 & 6 - can you use them accurately in sentences? Can you use a dictionary to find the definitions?
- Complete some of the activities on the home learning pages
Also, please check here for daily tasks that we will put on for you too!
Try to keep up with your school work and record it in your homework books.
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday and children are required to come in their PE kits on those days.
Monday - Outdoor session
Thursday - Indoor session
Please note as we are swimming on Friday, we are unlikely to do PE on Thursdays as this would mean we have 3 PE sessions rather than 2. Children should still come in PE kits on that day just in case we do PE.
Note there has been a change to school PE kits this year as previously communicated in Mrs Houseman's updates. Please could you adhere to this as soon as possible.
PE kit - plain red t-shirt, either with or without the school logo; a plain black sports jacket and plain black or navy shorts/joggers.
We will be swimming on Friday mornings from the 17th September 2021
The homework will be posted here and on Class Dojo with any documents that are needed it below the tasks. The homework will be set on a Friday and will be due in one week later.

Use the documents in the homework documents section. The powerpoint has some useful tips in for your poster. Children should have come home with an entry form to complete it in. If it get lost there's a copy in the homework documents section.
08.10.21 SPAG.COM - Passive and Active voice.
We have just started working on this totally new concept this week in school, so want to give the children chance to practise and have a go. It is likely that they will find this quite difficult. There are plenty of you tube videos around to help. We are not expecting them to get this all correct at this point in the year!
15.10.21 - Maths. Your children are bringing home an 'Ultimate Division Challenge' sheet. We would like the children to complete as much as they can and time themselves. We would also like them to check out some of the division questions on 'Hit the Button'.(Just google the site - It's brilliant!)
Below you'll find all the spelling lists for the weekly spellings. These will be set on a Friday and will be tested the following Friday
By the end of Year 6 the children are also expected to know most of the words from a Y5/6 word list. Lots of these words will come up through weekly spelling tests, but we would like children to spend time practising a set of these words each term. The different list for each term are in the spelling documents list. They won't be tested every week, but we will re-visit them a few times a term.
15.10.21 - Hyphens. Joining compound adjectives to avoid ambuguity.
08.10.21 - Hyphenated prefix words
