Welcome to CS Lewis Class
Welcome to our Year 6 class full of hard working children who love to learn and keep growing as people. Mr McCarthy is our teacher and our teaching assistant is Mrs Read. Together as a group, we make up CS Lewis class.
CS Lewis is a brilliant author and I love the themes he writes about in his books. Themes of adventure, using your imagination, but also of forgiveness and putting others before yourself.
You may already know that I'm a big Forest fan and enjoy watching them most weekends at The City Ground. I also enjoy watching many other sports and spending time with my little girl, who is growing up far too quickly!

HOME LEARNING
If you find yourself at home over the next few weeks and are well enough, please try to:
- Read daily and record it in your planner (20 minutes at least).
- Spending 30 minutes on TT Rockstars.
- Practise the statutory spellings for Years 5 & 6 - can you use them accurately in sentences? Can you use a dictionary to find the definitions?
- Complete some of the activities on the home learning pages
Also, please check here for daily tasks that we will put on for you too!
Try to keep up with your school work and record it in your homework books.
PE Information
Our PE days are Monday and Friday (swimming). Children are only required to come in their PE kits on Monday. We may well do other PE sessions on other days, but kit is only needed on a Monday.
Note there has been a change to school PE kits this year as previously communicated in Mrs Houseman's updates. Please could you adhere to this as soon as possible.
PE kit - plain red t-shirt, either with or without the school logo; a plain black sports jacket and plain black or navy shorts/joggers.
Homework
The homework will be posted here and on Class Dojo with any documents that are needed it below the tasks. The homework will be set on a Friday and will be due in one week later.
Homework Documents
Spellings
Below you'll find all the spelling lists for the weekly spellings. These will be set on a Friday and will be tested the following Friday
By the end of Year 6 the children are also expected to know most of the words from a Y5/6 word list. Lots of these words will come up through weekly spelling tests, but we would like children to spend time practising a set of these words each term. The different list for each term are in the spelling documents list. They won't be tested every week, but we will re-visit them a few times a term.
Please check back on Fridays for the weekly spellings. I have removed the Autumn spellings to avoid long lists! Spellings are also stuck in the childrens' diaries.
