We can’t quite believe that we are writing this as the final update for France & GB Class.
The first year of your child’s school journey has probably not looked a great deal like you expected it to back in September.
We would like to thank you for your continued support during the pandemic. It truly has been a team effort to help your children progress this year. We will be forever grateful for your engagement with the home learning and your confidence to send your children back to school once the government gave us the go ahead.
Our children are the luckiest year group in school as they have been given the chance to adapt back to school life which we truly believe will help them to settle much quicker into year 1 in September.
For the next two days we would like to finalise any outstanding assessments.
We would appreciate our home learner’s to be re-assessed on their phonics progress using the phonics assessment booklet in the 'phonics' section below.
If your child is home learning and you have not yet completed their maths assessment from last week, please can you do so at your earliest convenience. It means we can pass up the most recent assessment information to your child’s new teacher.
We have two final sounds to re-teach for phase 3 phonics and we would like to consolidate the use of a number line to add and take-away. Additionally, we would like to consolidate counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. This repetition is vital to embed the skill.
We are so very proud of the progress the children have made during this very strange academic year and feel very strongly about maintaining this in preparation for year 1. As Mrs Houseman’s update mentioned we have created a 6-week challenge booklet which can now be accessed on our webpages. Please let us know by Monday morning if you would like us to print you a copy of this document to send home with your child on Tuesday. Alternatively, there is a copy of this document on our class pages.
We wish you a very happy and safe summer holiday with your children and look forward to watching them continue to flourish in the next chapter of their educational journey.
As always, thank you for your continued support this year.
Kindest Regards,
Miss A. Hutchinson and Mrs L. Robinson.
