Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well and had a lovely Easter enjoying this beautiful sunshine!
Our new learning is 'Get set, Grow!' and is linked to growing seeds, plant life cycles, observing changes in plant growth, fruits and vegetables and linking to wildlife in the garden. Hopefully, the sun will stay shining so the children can get into the garden and explore! We have linked the learning as closely as possible to what we would have done at school, but adapted it to make it accessible for home learning.
Please see below for this weeks home learning activities. In order to keep progressing the children's
phonics learning, the children who were learning phase 2 (Mrs Homers and Miss Haywood's groups), will now begin phase 3 learning and keep revisiting phase 2. The children who were learning phase 3 (Miss Hutchinson's and Miss Keating's groups), will continue to finish learning the last two phase 3 sounds and keep revisiting both phase 2 and 3. We have uploaded lots of videos to support the children and yourselves with this and if there any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Also, to continue supporting the children's reading, I just wanted to let you know about a fantastic website 'teach your little monster to read'. It has been created into an interactive game and I think the children will love it. Please see 'France class - reading section' for a link.
I am so proud of all the children and it is lovely to receive videos and photos of them undertaking the learning and having fun at home. It will be lovely to share these when we return to school. Thank you and please keep sending, of course if you get chance. Again, thank you for supporting me and doing a fantastic job with everything!
I am so grateful for all the support you are giving in these difficult circumstances but again, please do look after yourselves. Keeping safe and well is the most important thing to us. I understand so many of you are working from home so I understand if you cannot complete everything!
If you haven't already seen it, please have a look on Mrs Houseman's page of the website. I hope the children enjoy seeing our special message! I am really missing the children and I cannot wait to see them all again!
Please, do not hesitate to contact me. We can do this together :)
Kindest regards, Miss Keating.
Please can I ask the children continue to undertake the following, everyday, where possible:
Reading – Reading their school book by applying their phonic knowledge and skills, with the support of an adult. Please continue to write in their school reading diary when this takes place. I understand that their school books will be finished in the next week or so, therefore, I am going to try and find free books online or take photos of school books to support the continuation of reading appropriate to their phonic phase.
Additionally, please continue to enjoy a range of home books together to engage children in the pleasure of reading.
Name Formation – Practising their full name using the name card provided in their green learning journal. As the children develop their confidence, please hide the card and use it just to support letters the children are unsure of.
Letter and number formation – Practising letters and number formation will continue to support their writing and number work. Please see the formation sheets provided in their green learning journal that was sent home.
