Poetry read by the lovely Miss Keating and a special poem of her own that she's written for all of you!
Welcome back to another week of home schooling to all of you. I hope that you are all (still) coping well with all of the challenges that our situation is throwing at us. I think that in many cases we are getting a little more used to our new normal, and certainly finding lots of new ways to help us manage it.
It has been absolutely amazing to catch up with you all by phone and lots of emails. The pictures and videos have made me feel extra proud of you and all of the special work and activities that you have been doing at home. Let us hope that sometime soon, the children will be able to return to school and be with their friends.
The zoom call was an amazing experience wasn’t it? I know that not everyone was able to attend, but it was lovely to see everyone who was there. I hope that it has helped the children to feel connected to their friends in class too. I know some of you are organising zoom meetings and other ways of helping the children to stay in touch with each other too which is wonderful. Thank you so much to those of you who advised and helped me. You know who you are!
I hope that you and the children are continuing to enjoy our Get set, grow topic. Lots of the seeds you sowed are growing well and this is helping the children to observe the changes. I know from your photos and videos that there has been lots of learning happening outside, as well as lots of fun. I really do appreciate everything that you are doing to make the topic so successful. Your gardens will also look so beautiful too as a result! My beans and tomatoes are still tiny but I am being patient! Our maths involves measuring your plants too, but please feel free to adapt it if you need to.
I have had lots of great feedback about the phonics too. Please keep up the good work and encourage the children to use the sounds in their writing. Please email me for advice on bkeating@dovedale.derbyshire.sch.uk .
Congratulations to Heidi for receiving the REACH certificate. It was really well deserved. I wonder who will wow me this week to get the award this Friday? It could be anyone so keep sending in your amazing achievements.
Finally, I hope that you all have an amazing week and enjoy being with your families. I am in the middle of planning a poetry story time so you should see that soon. I hope you all enjoy it.
Stay safe and I hope to see you soon.
