This week in school would be continuing with our assessments in English and Maths so we are providing a range of practice materials for your child to engage with. Do not worry that your child is missing the rest of their assessments, we will catch up on these once they return.
Lessons today are:
Maths - Addition and Subtraction practice
Put your addition and subtraction knowledge to the test by engaging with the two mini assessments. Think about the methods we have used in class to help you solve the answers.
English - Reading comprehension. Engage with either of the two reading papers below. Remember to use our 'cracking comprehension' techniques. Have a highlighter ready to help you unpick the text and to find the answer. Remember to use the text - don't pick out the answer from knowledge you think you may have!
Phonics - Use Acorn Adventure on Phonics Play to engage with alternative pronunciations of the 'ie' grapheme. Read words : pie, fried, cried, denied, replied, chief, thief, shield, belief, shriek. and begin sorting them based on the sound they make.
Art - Use the internet to research different portraits by Vincent Van Gogh before engaging with the drawing techniques PPT. Children to be given a mirror or a picture of themselves and try and draw from observation to create a portrait of themselves. .
If you would like to do additional activities you could:
Read your book to an adult.
Practise spellings on Spelling Shed
Times tables practise using TTRockStars
