Our learning this Spring...
We are halfway through our knowledge block of learning: Romans and Volcanoes! This half term we will be continuing to examine the mechanics of volcanoes and investigate what the Romans did for our country and what innovations they brought to society, as well as the impact on life when they eventually left.
Our literacy will begin with some back to school skills (comprehension, editing & spelling). Then we will move onto writing explanation texts about volcanoes. We will keep practising those year 5 targets that all the children in class have worked so hard on in the first spring term. I am very proud of what the pupils achieved last half term in their extended writing.
In maths lessons we will consolidate knowledge of fractions and learn how, decimals and percentages relate to one another. The children will be completing their knowledge block about Earth in space before delving into the world of properties of materials. In PSHCE we will be learning about human rights as part of our Knowledge block called being Responsible.
