It's our 1960's party week!
In preparation, we are learning about 1960's music. Listen / watch the music and dance film clips and see if you can recreate the moves. An information sheet is included if needed.

Being Me - Identify what makes you feel special
Discuss and think about the following questions...
Who is special to me?
Why are they special?
(For example, they provide support, love, guidance, safety, fun, kindness).
Have a look at home for a photograph of family, friends or pets (something that is special to you).
Write a few sentences to explain why each person/pet is special to you.
Write down why is it important to be kind/caring towards each other.
Finish by writing down what you could do or say to someone that would make them feel special.

Practise next weeks spellings using Look, Cover, Write Check.
Then choose a picture stimulus from either the beach or farm scene. Use this time to plan out what you would like to include in your writing. Remember to use all the skills you have learned about describing a setting.
Find a range of different materials around the house ( Play dough, elastic band, plastic straw, metal spoon, sponge, wooden blocks, paper, fabric, rubber, glass, plastic boxes, etc). Use the observation sheet to see if what forces can be used on different materials. Discuss results with a grown up and explore these questions.
- Why is it good that all materials do not change shape when forces are exerted on them?
- How does this make them suitable for a purpose?
- Can you give an example? (e.g. a brick doesn’t squash so it is good for building).
- Do all materials go back to their original shape after?
- Do you notice anything interesting about the playdough?
Challenge : To make a rocket out of playdough by rolling a dice…
Give yourselves 2 minute to make the rocket. What does it look like?
Finish the Mymaths homework on 'sharing' if you haven't done it yet.
Sing along these times tables videos to learn the 2, 5, 10 and 3 timestables.
Now try to write them in your notebook.
Use your plan from yesterday to write out your setting description. Remember to use all the skills we have practised and keep your handwriting neat with clear finger spaces and punctuation.
Show and discuss the PowerPoint to learn about fractions halves, quarters and a whole.
Use pre-cut shapes (rectangles, squares, circles) to fold into halves and quarters to colour, label then glue into your books.
Challenge: Can you explain how you worked out the answers by writing a sentence using mathematical vocabulary? (Example: I know that this shape represents half because there are 2 equal parts in the shape and one of those parts are coloured).
We are now practising to write letters in a cursive style. Look at the Cursive letter formation powerpoint and notice how each letter This will mean that you will probably be forming some letters in a completely new way.
Practise forming the letters m, n and o in a cursive style.
Complete 2 lines of correctly formed letters before moving to the next letter.
Remember that all of these letters should fill the lower half of the lines, with no ascenders or descenders needed.
