Each week your child will be tested on a weekly spelling rule. Please practice these spellings at home to support your child with their progression in spelling as this will aid their learning in independent writing.
Please click on the document below to see the progression of our spelling rules this year and to find a list of words the children will be tested against. As always the children are broken down into three spelling groups, please click on the appropriate group for your child.
As mentioned at parents evening, ensuring your child is also familiar and confident with the challenge words from the Year 3/4 list will better support your child with their confidence within independent writing. Please try and learn an additional two or three spellings from the list each week.
For Summer Term 2 - Please try and focus on the following spellings as additional spellings as this will support your child with their celebration work.
- small, saved, brighter, slice, warm, display, tried, return, popular, editing, turkey, wrist, station, bought, correcting, stories, capture, tough, explained, independent, lonely, address, explosion, incredibly.
We have still attached the Y3/4 word list below for your reference.
Each week we would like your child to practice their spellings and times tables alongside 3 weekly reads. Please write in your child's diary when you read with them or when they practice their spellings and times tables as we award merits on the Friday. We will also alternate between a My Maths online task and an English focused task on Spag.com. Each Friday your child will stick a homework slip and weekly spelling list into their diary. We therefore ask that your child has their planner in school everyday so that important notices aren't missed. I will also update the class blog weekly to remind you of the set homework tasks.
Please use the links below to access the online tasks.
As many of you have requested alternative tasks to support your child's learning at home, please find additional weekly tasks should you wish to complete these with your child. These paper copies are optional and can be completed without printing however if you would like a paper copy please ask via class dojo.
Below you will find weekly Maths questions which progress through the different mathematical concepts. For English, Week 1, 2 and 3 are linked to the reading paper. Use one 'text' per week from the reading paper and then complete the associated questions. For week 4 the children will benefit from working through some of the Year 3 and 4 statutory word lists. On this document, check whether your child can read and spell these words. There are quite a few so pick a selection rather than completing them all! During week 5 and 6, we have chosen a grammar and punctuation paper to aid their understanding of key terms.
For each paper the answers are included on the last page, however for the reading papers you will find an additional attachment labelled 'Week 1, 2 & 3 - Mark Scheme (For parents). If you need any support or anything further, please ask!
