Autumn Term

Friday 18th December:

We have made it to the Christmas holidays! Merry Christmas everyone. The children have worked so hard all term, right up until their Christmas break. So I hope all of Cheetah Class enjoy their break, they deserve it. The last Reach winner of 2020 was Franklyn today. Well done!

In January, our new PE days are Tuesday and Friday. We are now asking that the children do not bring a PE kit into school, but they wear their PE kit on their PE days to school (not tracksuits, or clothes with logos, but school PE kit please). Therefore, if Cheetah Class can wear their school PE kit on Tuesday and Friday each week of the of the half-term. Thank you.

Homework over the holiday is spellings, which will be tested on the first Friday back and reading.

I look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year!

Friday 11th December:

It has been lovely to see everyone today dressed in their Christmas jumpers or festive outfits. We even managed a Santa dash around the playground. Well done Cheetahs. Please remember it is the Christmas party for Year 4 on Tuesday, so you can come to school in your party clothes. Well done to Isabelle H, who gained the next Reach certificate today!

See you all for the final week of the term, next week.

Friday 4th December:

I can't believe it is already December! Cheetah class were very egg-cited this week to find out what had happened in our egg investigation that we had set up to represent our teeth. We found out that is water the egg stayed white and in cola and vinegar they turned brown. Therefore, we learnt about   ways to keep our teeth healthy. I hope this has has an affect at home! A huge well done to our Reach certificate winner this week, which was Jensen. Next week, we will be continuing with some of out Year 4 Autumn assessments to monitor the classes progress.

Homework this week is reading, spellings and Spag.com.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Friday 27th Novmber:

There have been some excellent newspaper reports to read today. Well done Cheetah Class for writing about the character Edwin's adventure into the Norman camp during the Battle of Hastings. Everyone has worked well to solve division calculations using the short division (bus stop) method, during the week too. This hard work has also been demonstrated by this weeks Reach certificate recipient, Logan W. Next week, we will be completing our Autumn Year 4 assessments to monitor the classes progress this term.

Homework this week is reading, spellings and My Maths.

See you on Monday.

Friday 20th November:

Another week completed! We have continued reading our novel in English called 'I was there: 1066' and we are working on Newspaper report features ready to write our own reports based on the book. Everyone made an excellent effort to write up our Science investigation too. Today (Friday), some of the class also passed their Bikeability Level 1, well done. Unfortunately, our other session on the Thursday had to be cancelled but this has been rearranged for Monday 23rd. Well done to Ethan, who earnt this weeks Reach certificate!

Thursday 22nd October:

Happy half-term everyone! It has been a long half-term but the children have settled in fantastically to Year 4 and worked incredibly hard, which has been reflected in their assessments taken again over the week. Well done, you all deserve a well earned break. I look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 2nd November. A huge well done to Logan H, who received this weeks REACH certificate for his descriptive writing.

Over the week off we have a TT Rockstars battle set against Leopards class, which ends on the morning of Monday 2nd November. Best of luck! You also have reading and spellings to practise ready for the next spelling test on Friday 6th November.

Friday 16th October:

Cheetah Class have produced some lovely story writing this week, planning and writing a story across the week. They applied their descriptive writing features well to create fantastic descriptions of characters and settings. We have also looked at Black History Month for our PSHE, creating posters of inspirational people in history. A huge well done, to both Luca (who was last week's certificate winner) and Cerys for their REACH certificates, demonstrating brilliant qualities in Cheerful Cheetah Class.

Don't forget next week is only a 4 day week, so homework will be due in on Thursday along with our spelling test being on Thursday. Homework this week is reading, spellings, times tables and SPAG.com.

See you all for our last week in Autumn 1, next week.

Friday 9th October:

Cheetah Class have worked hard to build their confidence with our formal written multiplication method this week. At the beginning of the week we all found it tricky but by the end of the week we can now all multiply a 3 digit number by a 1 digit number. Well done! I have also been impressed with the everyone's descriptive writing. We have been able to include adjectives, similes, alliteration and personification to clearly describe different scenes. Our REACH nomination hasn't been revealed for this week yet, so we look forward to finding out on Monday.

Homework this week is reading, spelling, times tables and a My Maths activity.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Friday 2nd October:

I can't believe it is October already! Another week has flown by with Cheetah Class. We have been working hard on our column subtraction, word classes and our fencing skills (not with any real fencing equipment unfortunately) for the PE virtual competition. A huge well done to Isabelle B this week, who received the REACH certificate.

Homework this week is reading, spellings and a TT Rockstar battle against Leopard Class. Come on Cheetah Class, we can do it!

See you all on Monday, enjoy your weekend.

Friday 25th September:

All the children have worked brilliantly on column addition this week in Maths. We have learnt to place any carried digits above the answer line, which was a new method, ready for Year 6! We have also built up to writing our own conversations in English, using all the speech rules we have learnt. To end the week, we have had Stand Up Derbyshire Day were we have taken part in fitness and mindfulness activities as well completing a pledge of how we can be active.

Well done to our first 'Cheerful Cheetah' Cohen, for gaining the REACH certificate. Mrs Houseman will be uploading these each week on the school website, so please take a look.

Friday 11th September:

Well done for everyone for making it to the end of our first week! I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone in Cheetah Class and look forward to getting to know everyone more in the coming weeks. This week has been a busy week getting to know the new routines, completing assessments and enjoying REACH week. For REACH week we have made placemats, positive message cards and leaves for an achievement tree alongside looking in our school rules and values. Assessments have now all been completed and we will be sending out a short summary in a couple of weeks time to let you know how you can be helping your child.
