This week we are learning about Africa.  Can you locate America on your map?  Africa is a continent with 56 different countries, each one with it’s own flag.  Look at the National Flags of Africa and chose your favourite.  Can you match it up to it’s country using the Africa Map with Flags? Now have a try at drawing your favourite flag – remember to include a title stating which country it is for.

English activities

Reading Comprehension –  All About Elephants.  There are three different levels to choose from. Read through the text and answer the questions.

Writing  Adverbs. Watch the video to recap what adverbs are and how they are used.  Then complete the three tasks in the Boring Sentences document.

Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar - task: 2019 SATs KS1.  Please note that for the remaining weeks we will set past SATs papers to be completed.  They are longer than the previous activities set and have 19 questions.  They don't have to be completed in one go, or within a time limit so feel free to pause and resume if needed.  A paper copy is also included below if needed.

Writing – African Safari. Imagine you are on Safari in Africa.  Write about all the animals that you see on your trip.  See separate notes.

Maths activities

This week the maths lessons focus on revision of statistics and position and direction. The last lesson includes relevant questions taken from previous SATs papers.

Where applicable all children should attempt 'Mastery' questions where applicable, and more confident mathematicians can challenge themselves with the 'Mastery with Greater Depth'.

Other curriculum areas

Please use your judgement as to what to put in the book as it may not always be necessary / appropriate. Remember you can email photos to us, which would be lovely to share with the children and look back on when we are back at school and celebrating all their hard work!
