Please find below lessons and activities for this week which we hope your child will enjoy.
Introduction To This Week-1.m4v
Reading Comprehension – All About Elephants. There are three different levels to choose from. Read through the text and answer the questions.
Writing – Adverbs. Watch the video to recap what adverbs are and how they are used. Then complete the three tasks in the Boring Sentences document.
Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar - SPAG.com task: 2019 SATs KS1. Please note that for the remaining weeks we will set past SATs papers to be completed. They are longer than the previous activities set and have 19 questions. They don't have to be completed in one go, or within a time limit so feel free to pause and resume if needed. A paper copy is also included below if needed.
Writing – African Safari. Imagine you are on Safari in Africa. Write about all the animals that you see on your trip. See separate notes.
Handwriting – Practise using all cursive joins by writing complete sentences. See the notes attached.
This week the maths lessons focus on revision of statistics and position and direction. The last lesson includes relevant questions taken from previous SATs papers.
Where applicable all children should attempt 'Mastery' questions where applicable, and more confident mathematicians can challenge themselves with the 'Mastery with Greater Depth'.

Please use your judgement as to what to put in the book as it may not always be necessary / appropriate. Remember you can email photos to us, which would be lovely to share with the children and look back on when we are back at school and celebrating all their hard work!
Science - Animals including humans: Lesson 4: Exercise
Look through the PowerPoint slides 1-10
Activity 1: Time yourself doing your 5 exercises. How many times can you do each of them in a minute?
Record this number on your activity sheet. Write a few words to describe how your body feels after each exercise.
Activity 2: Exploring exercise questions Answer these questions according to the data you have collected in Activity 1.
Separate notes are included for both activities.
Challenge: Explore slides 13 and 14. Can you think of three activities that count towards your 60 minutes a day?
Geography – Comparing Different Climates. Watch the video above to learn about hot and cold climates and recap on geographical vocabulary to describe them. The Powerpoint presentation has also been included below. Practise using geographical vocabulary related to weather and climate to match the words to describe each of the different areas.
PSCHE – Online Safety. Read about Smartie the Penguin and discuss the importance of online safety. Make a list of the ways that you can stay safe online and then make an information poster about them.
PE – Boccia – see the Derbyshire School Games resources for lots of ideas of how this game can be adapted to play at home with your family. Challenges are included for each day.
Art – Look at the African Art Powerpoint to discover the distinctive style of African patterns. Inspired by nature, the patterns are often geometric or symbolic. Look at your surroundings and have a go at making one yourself.
