Welcome to Times Square Class!

with Miss Barrett & Mrs McGowan

Welcome to Times Square class in Year 4. In our class we have not one, but two teachers! Miss Barrett teaches us at the start of the week and Mrs McGowan teaches us from the middle of the week onwards. We also have support from Mrs Styring, our super teaching assistant, during the week.

This half term, we will be learning all about "Land and Sea".

Each week either a MyMaths or a Spag.com activity will be set for children to complete by the following week. 

 

Please practise the current term's spellings and your times tables, and remember to read to an adult 3 times each week.

(To be awarded 5 team points, an adult needs to have signed the planner 3 times in the week).

Spring 1 WK2 (12th January)

We have had yet another eventful week with cycling, hurdling drills with an Olympic athlete and begun our new topic: Land and Sea.

 

Please can you remember to fill in your water diaries over this month.  Let's see how we us our water!

 

This week's Dojo winner was Honey as well as being this week's Star.

Autumn 2 WK7 (15th December)

What a great end to the week, with festive jumpers and a Panto too (thanks to the hard-working PTFA).

 

For homework, there will be no SPAG or MyMaths activity during the holidays, but please do continue to listen to reading, practise spellings and times tables.

 

Well done to Central Park table who were Miss Barrett and Mrs McGowan’s top table of the week and can look forward to a two days and the New Year in cushion comfort!

Autumn 2 WK5 (1st December)

Well the time has finally come… The class assembly parts and song have been revealed, in readiness for next Thursday’s big performance.

 

Please can you help your children practise their lines and importantly, to project their voices. The song, “Just like a Roman,” can be found on youtube under SingUp. We’re sure if you asked, that your child would give you a sneak preview.

 

For homework, please continue to listen to reading, practise spellings and times tables, and support your child with their SPAG activity.

Autumn 2 WK4 (24th November)

We ended the week, sitting pretty and handsome, having our pictures taken. During the rest of the week we have been roving reporters, editing our Newspaper reports.

 

Preparations for the Christmas Bazaar are in full swing, with the class toiling away on various crafts. I’m sure it will be a pleasant surprise.

 

For homework, please continue to listen to reading, practise spellings and times tables, and support your child with their MyMaths activity.

Autumn 2 WK3 (17th November)

We’ve proven ourselves to be rather talented in many skills; dabbling in construction, acting, as well as comic art!

 

The basis of our writing, and artistic endeavours, have been based on the Graphic Novel “Amulet” by Kazu Kibuishi. We’re sure, if you asked your children about it, that Times Square could entertain you with their version of the story so far…

This week we’ve been introduced to where the ancient Indus Valley trade started and been working hard on creating colourful geometric art.

We’ve had a colourful week continuing to decorate our Firework display lanterns. Remember, if you can, to visit West Park Firework display this Saturday where all our marvellous creations will be showcased!

WK7 (20th October)

We’ve had a crafty end to the week, with lantern making for the West Park Firework display on 4th November and near completing our chariots.

WK6 (6th October)

Times Square were a colourful class today for the Dress in Colour day and we were awarded extra playtime for good comprehension in our Accelerated Reader quizzes.

It was lovely to meet the parents of Times Square class children on Wednesday and to read some fantastic descriptions this week.

We have had an active week with National Fitness Day and basketball training, Alien Maths and entering the NHS drawing competition about keeping healthy.

This week started with all Lower Juniors working together and sharing interesting facts about themselves. A fantastic demonstration of hoop skills also earned Times Square extra break time.

WK1 (8th September)

What a busy week! We’ve met roaming Romulus, felt the “force” and are getting into the “Year 4” swing of it. Now all we have to do is see where our Roman Trade and Transport topic will take us to next...
